What Nobody Teaches Injectors
Hosted by Dr Omar Noori & Kymberley Dench RN
A paper published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology last year asked whether facial assessments and structured treatment plans improve patient retention. Retrospective cohort, 17 clinics across New South Wales and Queensland, 15,000 patients, six years. The headline finding was a 2.5x increase in retention. The raw data pointed the other way before statistical adjustment, all 17 clinics sat under one ownership group using one CRM, and the eligibility criteria for the two cohorts weren't equivalent. Kymberley and I go through what the paper shows, what it doesn't, and where we disagree about what follows from it. The rest of the episode covers the consultation itself. What a full assessment contains and how long it takes. Why cosmetics is one of the only areas of medicine where the consultation is unpaid, and what that does to clinical decision-making. Screening for body dysmorphic disorder and where the line sits between a committed patient and one who can't stop. Saying no when every payment structure penalises it. What paid acquisition now costs a clinic. And a follow-up on the nurse and doctor question from episode one, which we clarify rather than retract.
